We are looking for a warm, organized, and health-conscious Cook to support our children's wellbeing through nutritious food.
Role Overview
The Cook is responsible for preparing healthy, child-friendly meals and snacks, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and nutrition at all times. This includes planning and preparing morning snacks (as needed), lunch, afternoon snacks, and early evening snacks aligned with the school schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children aged 1-5, including soft or mashed options for younger children.
- Provide healthy afternoon and evening snacks, along with lunch for all age groups.
- Follow portion guidelines suited to varying age groups and avoid common choking hazards.
- Support simple menu planning that meets school nutrition guidelines and cultural or seasonal needs.
Health, Safety & Hygiene
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation protocols, including proper handwashing, glove use, and cleaning schedules.
- Check and store food items safely, monitor expiry dates, and minimize food waste.
- Prepare meals in accordance with allergy and dietary requirements (vegetarian, allergies, intolerances, etc.).
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with school management and teachers to align meal times with the daily schedule.
- Keep clear records of menus and special dietary needs.
- Communicate promptly about supply shortages, equipment issues, or food safety concerns.
General Duties
- Receive and organize grocery or food deliveries and assist with basic inventory management.
- Wash dishes and utensils used for cooking and serving.
- Ensure the kitchen is cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of each shift.
Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience as a cook, kitchen assistant, or similar role, ideally within a school, daycare, preschool, or related setting.
- Basic knowledge of child nutrition and age-appropriate food for 1-5-year-olds.
- Understanding of food allergies and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to cook simple, healthy meals at scale within time constraints.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
